Financial Aid Awareness Month
February is Financial Aid Awareness Month! Although the month is already almost half over (where does the time go?) we wanted to share with our HS parentners that the Lone Star College Financial Aid Office is offereing a seriers of virtual workshops and presentations each week to help our students understanding the financial aid provess form start to finish.
We hope everyone is safe and well. Unfortunately, we were not able to offer last week’s Financial Aid Awareness sessions due to the winter storm, but we have another round of presentations scheduled for this week! The updated links are below:
Monday February 22nd at 10 a.m. – Financial Aid Applications 101: Learn the basics of submitting the FAFSA or TASFA application, common challenges, and next steps for the application process.
Tuesday February 23rd at 2 p.m. – Completing the Financial Aid Verification Process: Some students are selected for verification; get help with understanding the verification process at Lone Star College.
Wednesday February 24th at 10 a.m. – Understanding Your Financial Aid Offer: This presentation will help you understand different types of financial aid awards and understand your offers.
Thursday February 25th at 2 p.m. – Awarded, Now What?: After you are offered financial aid, what comes next? Learn about disbursement, refunds, book advances, and more.
Friday February 26th at 10 a.m. – Lone Star College Foundation Scholarship Workshop: Find out about the Lone Star College Foundation scholarship application, deadlines, and tips for success!
Friday February 26th at 2 p.m. – Don’t Get SAP’d! Maintaining Eligibility for Financial Aid: Make sure you know the requirements to maintain eligibility for financial aid.
