The Cleveland Independent School District strives to provide the students in our community with the very best educational program. Further, we are committed to this practice even in economically challenging times.
Regarding district transportation, ours was one of the very last in the area to stop the practice of door to door bus service pickup for students. The transition to satellite stops was not easy, but necessary. We knew that this shift would be an inconvenience for some and place hardship on others. We evaluated every satellite stop in an attempt to ensure the security of the children because safety is the most important thing to us.
The transportation department spent many hours throughout the summer critiquing the new routes, passing out handouts, posting information on the website and in the newspapers. Additionally, over 3,000 letters were mailed to enrolled bus riders informing them of the time and location for their new bus stops. This was done so parents would be aware of our new student pickup and drop-off procedures.
There were numerous calls with safety concerns which took priority and were handled on an individual basis. By the end of the second week of school, our bus routes were running smoothly.
We are very appreciative for the thoughtful parents and students in this community that have been supportive, patient and understanding during this transition. Without the support of everyone in our CISD family, this transition could not have been a success.
The CISD Transportation Department would like to extend a big “THANK YOU” for all your help and support!
